Places I have Worked: After LHS I attended UW-Oshkosh and graduated in 1973 with a degree in Education. Failing to find work was my incentive to go to graduate school and get a MS in Learning Disabilities. I taught in Ripon,WI from 75-78. That got old and I opened a kitchen remodeling business in St. Paul, MN. In December 1968 I joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard. I graduated from the Infantry Officer Candidate School in September 1970 and was posted to a National Guard infantry platoon in Two Rivers, WI. In late 1980 a Cold War buildup in Europe saw the need for experienced infantry captains and I volunteered for a tour in Germany. I stayed on active duty until 1 September 2000 when the army retired me in the rank of Colonel with a total of 31 years and 9 months of service of which 22 years were on active duty. I'm currently a defense consultant with a company I started and I call it the Krug Group.

Places I have Traveled: My Army service caused me to travel extensively. I've had tours of duty in Gelnhausen, West Germany, LaCrosse, WI, Arlington, VA, Kenosha, WI, Carlisle, PA, and back to VA. During these postings I traveled throughout most of the states, Europe and Korea. I've eaten some really nasty fare and stayed in some off the wall places. Now that I've been freed from the discipline of active duty I hope to travel to places of my choice such as New York City and Monterey, CA.

About My Family: In 1972 I married the former Ann Strong (OHS 68). She teaches kindergarten in Arlington, VA and her school is only 7 minutes from our home. We have three sons, Andrew (23) Michael (21) and Jonathan (20). Andy is the Information Technologies Manager for a small professional organization located in Alexandria, VA. Michael is a Network Engineer for a new dot com (millioneyes.com) and Jonathan is a sophomore at James Madison University located in Harrisonburg, VA. It is very expensive to live in the Washington DC area which means the working sons are at home building their bank accounts so some day they can get away from mom and dad. None of them has expressed a desire to become a soldier. One can only pray!

Future Plans: I really enjoy the Washington scene and expect to be here with my wife after ten years. I don't know how hard I want to work now that I've retired from the Army. My last Army position was a half-day job (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM). I hope those days are over. I intend to have enough clients so that my work is interesting but not all consuming. The Washington pace is hectic but intoxicating. Ann plans to continue teaching for the foreseeable future. This summer we moved to a 110 year old house 4 blocks from our old one. We'll spend most of our free time getting this one in shape.

Are you attending the 50th BD Bash? No, but I sure would like to!
