Places I have Worked: My first 17 years after High School I spent as a Domestic Engineer, and loved my life! I did quite a bit of volunteer work at my sons' grade school. I then took a job at Mt. Mary College in the Alumni Assoc. They put me through computer training and I attended night classes in Art. I actually worked with Sister. Assunta again. Then I moved on to work for an Ophthalmologist. He took me under his wing and gave my my start in Ophthalmology. Since then, I've become a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician. I have worked at Falls Medical Group for almost 10 years. I work for 2 Ophthalmologists and 2 Optometrists. We do some refractive surgery, but, specialize in cataracts and glaucoma. Our clinic recently merged and since Feb. I've been traveling one day a week to West Bend. The Ophthalmologist there specializes in refractive laser surgery. I've not been able to assist him as of yet, I will in the near future. I love my job and the fact that I only work 4 days a week--is wonderful!
Places I have Traveled: I've not done a lot of out-of-state traveling. My brother lives in Arizona, so I do visit him. I've been to Las Vegas a number of times and just love it. I've probably hit every lake in Wisconsin--water sports are big in my family.
About My Family: My life is my 3 sons and my 2 beautiful daghter-in-laws! All of my sons graduated from college with honors. My son, Chris, is an Accountant/CPA for an accounting firm in Milwaukee. His wife, Heather, works as a Design Engineer for Ameritech. The photo is Hunter Christian Slaats, born at 3:08 A.M. on Halloween, weighing 7lbs. 10oz. and 19-1/2 inches long.
Matthew works as a Sales Rep. for Neenah Printing, a division of Menasha Corp. His wife,Wendy, is head of Human Resources for the Pfister Hotel.
My son Patrick, who by the way, just built himself a Harley "Fat Boy" in my garage this winter, started working at Harley Davidson in January at a Manufacturing Engineer.(they liked his bike!)
My 3 sons do everything together. They are just the best of friends. Heather and Wendy were best friends since age 3, so it is kind of ironic they married brothers. The boys play softball every Wed. and I don't miss a game. I'm on a volleyball team all year round. I love the outdoors. We all camp, hunt, fish and spend lots of time together. All of boys have boats, 2 HydoStreams and 1 SeaRay. They all have 4-wheelers, even the girls! It's kind of funny, when the boys were little I bought the toys for them to play with, now--they buy the toys and mom gets to play! (I built a second garage, just for the toys!) There's nothing my kids wouldn't do for me.
Terri Ostertag-Witt has been part of my extended family forever. We have never lost touch of each other. Last Spring I took a leave from work to go back to Oshkosh and take care of my mother, whom I lost to cancer. Terri was always there for me. When we talk family, we talk best friends too. She's such a special person in my life...She's my family.
Future Plans: I'm going to be a Grandma, for the first time. Chris and Heather are expecting in October.
I am so excited. I'd love to be retired in 10 years, maybe that cabin in the woods, that home on the lake or just have my garage back!
Are you attending the 50th BD Bash? Wouldn't miss it!!!!!!
The person I most want to see at the 50th Birthday Bash is: I hope everyone will make an effort to be there.
