Places I have Worked: Hello everyone. Here is the random walk through time, where I've been and what I've been doing since last we walked the same halls and rooms together;

  • St. Norbert, De Pere, 68 - 72 biology
  • U of Iowa, Iowa City, 72 - 74 Physical Therapy
  • Back to Oshkosh, 74 - 75
Worked at Theda Clark for a year and lived at home with my father and two brothers, the first year following my mothers death in July, 74. That year, Pfeiffer was in town and I saw him frequently while he was working at the ABC House he mentioned. Then, in May of 75 I had a military debt to pay, so left for
  • San Antonio, Tx for 5 week medical officer basic course, then
  • El Paso, Tx, for a short six months as a PT at Wm Beaumont Army Medical Center.
The end of the Viet Man War resulted in massive outflowing of folks from the military, and i went with them, even though I had just started. In the final weeks, I had the option of staying and writing my own ticket, but decided to leave.

Leaving El Paso, I headed for Oregon, visited nevers for a few days, and drove on through the West, too fast in retrospect, so missed a lot of places I have wished I would have visited, but instead found my way to...

Minneapolis, where I had some friends, took a PT job at a childrens rehab center, and stayed for two years, when I had the opportunity to take an eight week pediatric neurodevelopmental course, thought of at the time as THE course to take to learn how to work with neuro-motor kids. This was being offered in Arlington VA, summer 77. The place I was working refused to let me go, even tho I was willing to go with leave, so I quit and went anyway. Good decision.

Then OSHKOSH!, again, PT for the public schools, 77 78 school year. I left after a year (very questionable decision), because I launched off on an amorous/adventure sojourn to Vermont, where I also had an opportunity for a Masters in Education. I took a job in Rutland Vermont as the rehab coordinator of a childrens center...the amorous/adventure...shipwrecked. The education degree, crashed due to philosophical differences... then in 1980...

OSHKOSH! for another 4 years with public schools as a kids PT. But in 1984, I had a chance to join the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative in Sauk City , west of Madison, and I'm still here...southwester Wisconsin, Spring Green, Plain, worked in Hospitals in Sauk, Reedsburg, Baraboo, Dodgeville, Darlington, and now in Richland Center, going with the flow of need in rural rehab in these communities, all within the same job through the cooperative.

Places I have Traveled: Virgin Islands, Florida one recent winter, New England when I lived out there, northern WI and the UP for wilderness camping...Sylvania.

About My Family: I was married for thirteen years, the legal description ending in 1997, but as some of you may know, the family lives on in new and hopefully renewed form. I have two sons; Aaron, 16, and Eli, 12. Aaron took an opportunity to move to Texas to live with his grandparents there so headed out this year for his senior year. Eli is in 6th grade in Spring Green,; he is taking alto sax, plays soccer, in accelerated math, getting A's in science, and just described himself to me as he looked over my shoulder as "ruggedly handsome"!!!!! I am very proud of these two guys. They have weathered some stormy seas, and have learned to live on, each growing, learning to find the good in life, and live it.

Future Plans: Various wilderness destinations, travel, the cool blue north, meandering down blue highways, treking through forests and along wilderness shorelines, "sleeping in the woods, by a fire in the night...". Paddling wilderness shore lines, sailing gentle breeze on bigger water. Keep finding my sons, keep walking this random walk, keep honor with people I love, and love me. Keep my work to the degree I want to work; if I can I'll retire at 59-1/2 on the chance that I still have any physical capacity to participate in the above. But I've worked in Rehab for 26 years, and as much as improvement is all of our potential, for I have witnessed some amazing recoveries, so is the end of it all, and as many of us have seen around us, problems of the spirit, our bodies, our heads, can evolve, and many times out of the blue. So, live each day, plan, but keep it flexible, enjoy, but give most to others, keep it simple, and find the best in the natural world. See some of you in a few weeks. To all, live well, like and love yourself and those close to you. Let the rough side drag, let the smooth side show. Be at peace. And thank you for friendship.
