Places I have Worked: Hi everyone. After graduating from Marquette University in 1972 with a BS in Electrical Engineering, I returned to Lourdes HS as a math teacher for a year. This allowed me to assist my deaf brother Kevin to mainstream into Lourdes, and also gave me the chance to be an assistant coach in football, basketball and track. I had a ball. It was great getting to know many of our former teachers as adult friends, such as Glen Kemp and Bill Behring. Bill is one of the great souls I have been privileged to know in this life. But I had not prepared properly for a career as an educator, and felt out of place, and restless. So I left Lourdes a second time. Young adults sometimes do stupid things.

I then worked as a gas pipeline corrosion control engineer for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in Oshkosh, and ran a group home for inner city minority students who came to Oshkosh in the ABC (A Better Chance) program. This too was very rewarding, but eventually both the job and the ABC program moved out of the local area, and it did not feel right to move with them.

So, in 1977 with no money and my quest for spiritual enlightenment stalled out, I figured it was about time to put my degree to use, better 5 years late than never, so I went to work at Johnson Controls, Inc in Milwaukee as an engineer, developing software for products that control large buildings systems, such as comfort, lighting, security and most important in my view, energy conservation. It was a large company in a metro area, and I felt very out of place. I planned to try it for a year. To my astonishment, I woke up yesterday twenty three years later, and shazam, I'm still there. For some of us, life is what happens while we are figuring out what we really want to do with our life. During that time I soon began working as a product development department manager eventually an internal Quality Improvement Consultant, and for the last 5 years, Program Manager for Engineering Systems.

In recent years my eyesight has become seriously impaired due to glaucoma, to the extent that would prevent me from doing many other lines of work. (Please get your eyes checked regularly!) I no longer drive and have great difficulty reading. However, I have been blessed to be able to continue working thus far. I don't know what the future holds, but I have learned to trust in God in a very up close and personal way, to truly appreciate family and friends, and each day, and that although we at times are tempted to complain about our jobs, it is more important to appreciate them, and not take our work, or our lives for granted. My career didn't turn out as I dreamed, and doesn't have much promise for the future, but I have touched a lot of fine people along the way, and hope together we have made a difference.

Places I have Traveled: After college, I returned to Oshkosh for a few years, and went to Salem Oregon for a few months (with Tom Nevers). I settled in Milwaukee in 1977 and have lived in the area ever since. As a hobby, I sang in and traveled with the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee for 15 years. Most notably, we performed at the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto Italy. During that trip, we also went to Rome, Assisi (where one of my heroes, St. Francis lived),and Switzerland. Half the town of Glarus there is named Pfeiffer. During my single life adventure phase, I did some wilderness trips, backpacking in the Colorado Rockies, and the Cascades and Olympics in Washington. While attempting to climb 14,255 foot Long's Peak, Tom Nevers and I were turned back by an 8 inch snowfall in August. I also did a lot of wilderness canoeing in the Minnesota Boundary Waters, and fishing trips in Ontario Canada. After I settled down and got married, Mary and I went to Can Cun and Cozumel Mexico on our honeymoon, tried all the local activities and duh, got sunburned. We also went deep sea fishing in waves so rough that not only did we get sick , but the radar broke off the boat. Yet we caught so many sailfish that we couldn't move our arms anymore.

As a family we have traveled to Florida several times, including Disney World etc. in Orlando area, a night shuttle launch at Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and a side trip to Georgia's Okefenokee Swamp. We also took a memorable trip to the Bad lands and Black Hills in South Dakota, and have visited family and friends in Ohio and Minnesota. In the last few years we have traveled extensively throughout the US with our daughters, who play on a Junior Olympics volleyball team, including tournaments in venues such as Denver, Baltimore, Dallas, New Orleans, St. Louis, Louisville, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, and Chicago. The midwest is a stronghold of Womens' Volleyball.

On work assignments, I have traveled to Canada and many states, including Florida, Maryland, Washington DC, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, California, Arizona, Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota. But, as Dorothy said it best, "there's no place like home!" Let's all click our red slippers and get together again back at Lourdes in Oshkosh this October.

About My Family: In 1983 a wonderful woman named Mary agreed to put up with me and we were married. Again, better late than never. Mary works at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Milwaukee as a Nursing Supervisor. In addition to working part time and being a full time wife, mother and chauffeur, Mary likes to do quilting and crafts in her "spare" time. Sleep is optional. My only hobby is singing with a small group that leads the music at church on Sundays, and an occasional golf outing.

We have three children, two daughters and a son. Next year, Heidi will be a Junior at Pius XI in Milwaukee, Katie will be a Freshman at Pius, and Dan will be in 7th grade at St. Luke in Brookfield. At this stage of our lives, the children are the center of our attention. Our principle pastime is to watch and support their many and varied activities. We are so busy our friends think we are crazy. What suffers is the house cleaning. But it will all be over so soon and the children will be gone. All are very active in sports, music and doing very well in school. (The instructions did say to please brag.)

Heidi plays volleyball, basketball and track at Pius. This year Heidi's volleyball team took 3rd in state, and she earned a first, second and fifth place in the state track meet in the 4x400 relay, 300m hurdles, and high jump. Heidi also plays on the Milwaukee Sting Junior Olympic volleyball team that is highly ranked nationally. Heidi has also been invited to attend the USA Youth National Volleyball Team development camp this summer. Heidi plays clarinet in the Pius symphonic band, and has a straight "A" GPA.

Katie also plays volleyball, basketball and track, and volleyball with Milwaukee Sting. She also plays violin in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. Katie loves art, and has won several numerous art awards, including having a picture she drew on the cover of a national Elementary School Magazine.

Dan plays football, volleyball, basketball, track and baseball, as well as clarinet in the school band. He also likes to draw and read.

My Dad still lives in Oshkosh. Mom died a few years ago. I'd like to thank Dr. Kevin Andrasko for taking care of mom all those years. Who'd have guessed back in 1968 that Kevin would be my mom's doctor 30 years later.

Future Plans: Our idea of the future right now is next week, not the next decade. In 10 years, we hope our children will be through college and enjoying happy and fulfilling lives on their own. We will be looking forward to retirement, and a slower pace of life. We'd like to travel, and I'd like to return to my quest for spiritual enlightenment.

Are you attending the 50th BD Bash? YES, if our schedule permits.

The person I most want to see at the 50th Birthday Bash is: I would love to see each and everyone.

Response to Westend Pizza Get Together: This is a great idea. Sorry but I can't make it this time. Perhaps some day you can do one on a weekend.

Everyone I have heard from reported that the 50th party was a smashing success.

Warmest wishes for a blessed christmas and a wonderfual happy and safe new year.
